Issues
Where Wes Stands
Arkansas families deserve more than slogans. Here are the issues Wes will fight for in Little Rock.
Protecting Private Property Rights
The right to own, use, and pass down your property is the foundation of Arkansas’s way of life — and of the American dream. Nearly seven in ten Arkansans own their home, above the national average1. Wes has spent twenty years on the Arkansas REALTORS® Association board fighting to defend that right, and he will continue that fight in the State Capitol. He will oppose any legislation that erodes private property rights and support policies that protect landowners, homeowners, and small business owners from government overreach.
Responsible Tax Relief
Arkansas families and small businesses deserve to keep more of what they earn. Wes supports responsibly phasing down the state income tax — continuing the progress Arkansas has already made, which has lowered the top rate from 4.9 percent to 3.9 percent2 and returned more than $1 billion to Arkansas taxpayers3 since 2023.
But Wes believes tax relief must be responsible. Individual income tax is the single largest source of Arkansas’s state tax revenue4 — funding the schools, roads, and public safety services our communities depend on. That means every tax cut should be paired with disciplined spending, a leaner government, and a commitment to eliminate waste before we ever consider reducing the priorities Arkansas families count on.
In Little Rock, Wes will continue to support phased, responsible tax reductions — returning more to Arkansas workers while keeping our commitments to strong schools, safe streets, and good roads.
Defending Life
Arkansas has been named the Most Pro-Life State in America for six consecutive years5. Wes is unwaveringly pro-life and will work to keep that title — supporting families, mothers, and children at every stage.
Protecting the Second Amendment
The right to keep and bear arms is not negotiable. Arkansas is a constitutional carry state6 — every law-abiding Arkansan has the right to carry without asking permission from the government, and Wes will defend that right. He will oppose any effort to chip away at the Second Amendment in Arkansas and will stand with Arkansas’s law-abiding gun owners, hunters, and sportsmen.
Strong Schools & Parental Choice
Parents — not bureaucrats — know what’s best for their children. Wes supports school choice, strong local control of schools, rigorous academic standards, and making sure every Arkansas child has a real shot at a great education regardless of zip code.
Supporting Rural Arkansas
The River Valley is built on farming families, small businesses, and small towns that have looked out for each other for generations. Pope and Van Buren counties are home to roughly 80,000 Arkansans7, and the state has already committed more than $519 million through the Arkansas Rural Connect program to extend broadband to about 127,000 locations statewide8 — but the work isn’t finished. Wes will fight to make sure the River Valley isn’t left behind: for rural infrastructure, expanded broadband, and the kind of economic opportunity that lets our young people build their lives right here in District 44, not leave for the big city.
Backing the Blue
Wes will always back Arkansas’s law enforcement officers, first responders, and their families. He will oppose efforts that attempt to defund the police. Wes will fight for the resources our law enforcement officers, firefighters, 911 dispatchers, EMTs, and all other emergency service personnel need to keep our communities safe.
